A design and investigation group was set up for “Liyutan Reservoir Project”.
May.1986 The design and investigation group was abolished after completion of basic design of “Liyutan Reservoir Project”. Meanwhile, a temporary engineering division was set up and affiliated to Taiwan Provincial Water Conservancy Bureau.
Sept.1990 The Central Water Resources Development Division was set up under the jurisdiction of Taiwan Provincial Water Conservancy Bureau for water resources development. The temporary engineering division was abolished at the same time.
June.1992

The project of Liyutan Reservoir was completed and the “Taiwan Provincial Liyutan Reservoir Management Bureau” was set up to manage all related affairs. The Central Water Resources Development Division continued to work on ”Jiji Common Diversion Project”, “Hsinshan Reservoir Embankment Heightening Project” and “Baoshan Second Reservoir Project”.

Jan.1998

The Central Water Resources Development Division was reorganized to become The Central Water Resources Bureau according to the second stage integrated project of Taiwan Provincial Water Conservancy Bureau by combining the Taiwan Provincial Liyutan Reservoir Management Bureau and the Shigang Dam Management Committee.

July.1999 The Central Water Resources Bureau became the jurisdiction of Water Resources Department, Ministry of Economic Affairs.
Oct.2001

In response to slimming down the organs of government, the administrative levels of the Central Water Resources Bureau changed from two levels to one level to shorten the time of official document trips. 

Mar.2002 For the merger of water conservancy offices, we were restructured to become Central Region Water Resources Office, Water Resources Agency, Ministry of Economic Affairs and allowed to set up Jiji weir Management Center.
Sept.2023

In response to the organizational restructuring of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, it was restructured into the "Central Region Water Resources Branch,Water Resources Agency Ministry of Economic Affairs".
